This is beautiful in Canada en route from Fraser, BC to Skasgar, AL. More great stuff like this here Abandoned Playgrounds
#3 is located in the Ten Thousand Islands near Marco Island, Florida. To watch a video and read an article about how, why and who built it visit here: http://www.coastalbreezenews.com/2013/04/19/cape-romano-takes-third/
It was used by Amtrak from 1913-1988, and by the military during WWII.
#26 Abandoned city of Keelung, Taiwan
I believe is from : http://www.flickr.com/photos/21180236@N03/5687386215/.
You can find its location at Google Maps: http://goo.gl/maps/RtVY8 This
site is an abandoned developed community and is already demolished, no
longer there. The site is located at one of the wettest spot at Taiwan.
No wonder the nature can overtake it.
#28 North Brother Island near New York City, New York is pretty amazing. And only a few hours away from my house. I’d love to find out if it’s accessible, and go up there to poke around. A lot of these places in the US are gated and boarded up to keep people out. I’ve been to many abandoned properties in Ct, and they usually involve climbing fences and ignoring “do not enter” signs. :)
There are a number of these submerged statues of Christ around the world. And yes, it really looks like that.
Angkor Wat shouldnt be included unless you include all other similar archeological sites (Macchu Piccu, Roman cities, Egypt temples etc)… I think hanting is more appropriate for many than beautiful … can be improved by geolocating the images … i think #25 is actially a UFO, no?.
One (or more) of the Maunsell Sea Forts are occupied: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principality_of_Sealand
I’ve seen several articles on this subject lately and they are all intensely, eerily beautiful. Love it!
